It was a tough decision to make at Nutra HQ to discontinue our BFM: Krill & Cranberry, a bait that had served anglers well both in the U.K. and worldwide. The amount of big carp caught on this bait being a testament to the quality of the base mix. But with Krill being in short supply worldwide, and our premium quality Krill Hydrolysate becoming harder to source each year, in the quantity required making impossible to continue with the range.
Any bait that has the Nutrabaits seal of approval needs to be of the highest quality available. There are several low quality Hydrolysate’s currently doing the rounds in the carpfishing world but Nutrabaits would never lower the quality of our baits by using these sub standard alternatives.
So after months of discussions and numerous recipes being put on the potential Big Fish Mix replacement list. One that constantly kept being mentioned was Salmon, Caviar & Black Pepper. For those of you that weren’t around in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, this was a recipe that took the carpfishing world by storm. It lived up to its name as a true big fish bait. It was sadly discontinued due to the huge popularity of Trigga.
Like everything at Nutrabaits, if an opportunity becomes available to make improvements we will always investigate and carry out trials, with our Big Fish Mix base mix being unchanged since the early 1990’s. With the advancement of ingredients it has been possible to increase the quality of the base mix and attraction levels even further with the addition of 2 ingredients. The rest of the ingredients in the base mix have stayed the same, with a perfect blend of premium quality fishmeal’s, pre-digested fishmeal, milk proteins, Haith’s Robin Red, Sluis CLO, whey proteins along with vitamins and minerals.
Moving onto the liquid package, we are constantly receiving samples from around the world on an almost daily basis, very occasionally one of these ingredients will instantly get our attention. This was the case with our Salmon Hydro. Instantly we knew this was a winner and would fit like a glove with this recipe. Rich in protein and high amino acid profile giving the recipe a beautiful building block. The flavour and essential oil package is identical to the original recipe giving that distinctive, strong fishy aroma with a peppery back note that carp find hard to resist.
As with all our recipes, ingredients are added at their optimum levels giving you the confidence you are using the highest quality baits currently available.
Throughout our field testing, the feed back was amazing with not just the amount of carp being caught but the amount of big carp. The decision to add to our range for 2022 was an easy decision and as expected, the amount of big carp and personal bests already falling to this bait has been amazing to see.
