It’s now 2 years since both Richard and Jason mooted to me the idea of getting onboard with the R&D for a new Nutrabaits boilie.
Now, of course they were both aware of my bond with Trigga Ice. A bond that was built on my catches since returning home to the Nutrabaits family. I could not have imagined the success that I had on the Ice. However, there are two points I’d like to make here that are relevant.
✅ As a ‘bank tramp’ who fishes a lot, I know how important this is in the developments of baits. It has to be because drawing conclusions from isolated trips or catching successes is not development. No, development is using a bait in tough conditions and through all the four seasons.
✅ Then as with all methodical testing, things start to follow a pattern. Is the bait the right consistency for the throwing stick? Is the bait able to absorb the accompanying liquids? Is the bait consistently the same? These are just a few obvious questions but require ‘on the bank’ answers not an office and factory simulation.
This is what makes me chuckle, I see so many things in this industry that are formulated and launched from office desks not lakeside experience. The Energize tests were done throughout 12 months of the year in all weather conditions, minor tweaks were carried out along the way with instant feedback, the attractor levels formulated, the outcomes stabilised and a finished bait that’s effective on any type of water throughout 12 months of the year.

Now 4 months after its launch and to say it’s been a success would be an understatement. Seeing the vast amount of big and beautiful carp caught already has been amazing to see which will only get better as I’ve found.
The Energize has a totally unique aroma and taste profile that just gets better and even more effective after each session. It may seem a daft thing to say about the uniqueness given we are humans smelling it in the fresh air, not a fish submerged in water. However, the feed stimulation of this bait makes it instant and enduring.
The spice and attractor package in the bait being unique and takes me back to the Ener-Vite days. This alone has a great impact on the carp’s olfactory system and remember this is the attractor sensors that temp carp into feeding. Once it has fed on the EnerGize then its gustatory system is also stimulated which makes the carp actively seek this bait out above others.
Now I’m not going to reel off how many big uns I’ve caught and how great an angler I am. That’s not my style and in today’s good or bad disposable world, I’ll let you judge my captures. However when I analyse my results there does seem to be a common theme in that the Energize has helped catch the bigger carp. This is partly I believe, the uniqueness of its taste profile that I mentioned earlier. Finally, I would add that its solubility is enhanced, if it ever needed to be I’m not sure, by the introduction of the liquid activators. By adding 500ml of this to a 5kg bag of Shelf Life Boilies within 4-6 hours the liquid is soaking into the centre of the boilies. I have written at length about the advantage of steaming baits and here is a glaringly obvious one. The finished baits ability to absorb even more liquid is so much better and adds approx 20% to 25% more than a boiled bait.
With the ever increasing number of anglers fishing each year, lakes are now more pressured than ever before. So the double ability of a bait to be instantly attractive and yet, nutritious enough for a season campaign is rare.
Without doubt the guys at Nutrabaits have managed this tough ask and I would argue with anyone its effectiveness in all feeding situations you encounter on the bank in any conditions.
