Celebrate 40 years of Nutrabaits

It’s our 40th anniversary this year, who’d have thought after Nutrabaits humble beginnings in a garage that we would still be producing baits 40 years later!

Anniversary year, yes 2026 is our 40th anniversary, 40 years of producing only the finest baits available with customers and stockists in over 50 countries from all across Europe right through to the US, South Africa and Japan to name only a few.

So what goes into producing a bait that will stay the course, over the last 30 years and more so over the last 10 years we’ve seen so many so called wonder baits appear along with bait companies burst onto the carp scene.
The majority claiming to be bait guru’s after reading a book or two on bait, sometimes all you can do is smile. Everyone claiming to use the finest ingredients available and the first thing they do is knock the established brands. Many of these small start up companies start life with great intentions, but after a few months soon realise the hard work producing bait, sourcing ingredients and keeping consistency isn’t possible with a small budget. Most fold in the first 3 years but replaced by the next self acclaimed bait expert.
So as an angler, look more closely at where the bait brand has come from, what’s the ethos, where’s the bait knowledge come from and lastly ingredients used. So many claim to use the finest ingredient’s available. After Brexit and importing not being possible any longer for the majority, purchasing the finest and freshest ingredients simply isn’t possible for the majority as most are manufactured overseas. Making them not possible for the vast majority to get direct, so if it’s possible to source in the U.K. then a big premium is paid making it impossible to use at optimum levels if at all.
Look at Nutrabaits for example, 2026 is our 40th year. Amazing that an idea of a bait company back in the early 80’s and being launched in 1986 would still be going strong today.
What has those 40 years given Nutrabaits. First up being strong business relationships with manufacturers worldwide, all safe in the knowledge they are working and supplying a trusted and established company. A company that purchases in bulk and honours their word.
So think about that for a second, a big and established manufacturer of raw ingredients comes up with a new concept and wants to get feedback, where does he go. Long established companies with good working relationships who will overtime assuming the product is worthy to make the cut, buy exclusively in bulk or small companies who can’t import, want in tiny quantities and possibly won’t be around in a couple of years.
It’s an easy one to work out, at Nutrabaits we have worked hard for over 30 years making everyone of our baits and ingredients visible to you, with all ingredients clearly listed on packaging along with a critical analysis again clearly displayed. This is now a legal requirement but when we started on this journey, most thought we were crazy. But what have we to hide ? We use only the finest ingredients available and have always been proud to display this. Some say other will copy, the answer is simple, let companies copy but what they will soon find is without the buying power of Nutrabaits it’s simply not possible to manufacture without passing the cost on to the customer and it certainly wouldn’t come at low cost. Add to this, all the exclusive ingredients that we use in our baits, it’s simply not possible for companies to purchase these.

So let’s take a look at the ethos of Nutrabaits, a brand built on quality over quantity. Why is this, take one look at the catch reports on our social media pages and it’s clear to see the baits consistently catch carp over and over again regardless of time of year. Seeing the catch reports flooding in daily makes everyone at Nutrabaits proud of what’s been achieved over the last 40 years.
Look at the line up of anglers using our baits who we are proud to have as friends, long established big fish anglers, many from the angling industry from magazine owners, magazine editors, long time big carp anglers who have realised over their many years in the angling industry that bait is the number one element in long term consistency. So with a line up of anglers using our baits including; Tim Paisley, Mark Holmes, Julian Cundiff, Kevin Clifford, Brian Skoyles, Martyn Skoyles, Mark Watson, Derek Pye, Andy Murray, Lee Walton, Gerrard Williams, Keith Standley, Graham Mabey, Gerry Heapes to name only a few. Anglers who in many cases would be welcomed to any bait firm with open arms, but have each chose to use our baits in their angling without offers of financial gain contrary to what some believe.
Another one to think about for a second, none being mercenaries who hop around companies for personal gain, but want the best for their angling to achieve their personal goals as all are fully aware that bait is the most essential part of any anglers long term success.

So what’s planned for 2026 being such a special year. First up is our new and exciting prototype bait to add to an already impressive line up. A bait we are proud of and one both Jason Callaghan and Rich Hughes have spent 100’s of hours in R&D (Research and Development) in bringing you what’s going to feature highly in anglers fishing over the coming years. Add to this Mark Holmes, an angler who has our total respect and an angler who has had amazing results over the last 4 years using Trigga Ice. Were we right to ask Mark to be our Guinea pig in this journey, the simple answer has been an outstanding yes. Mark has offered is opinion throughout the journey with the twists and turns throughout with minor tweaks along the way. Looking at Mark’s packed photo album of 2025 of big U.K. carp which includes a long list of 40’s along with several 50’s it’s clear to see it’s going to be something very special.
It won’t come as a surprise that this bait has a subtle garlic back note but the ingredients used are the finest available with an unrivalled additive package giving a unique finished bait that we look forward to bait companies across the globe trying to produce a low cost copy.
